An RV in Blanco has to handle both ends of Hill Country weather. NOAA's long-term averages for Blanco show about 96 days a year at 90 degrees or hotter. They also show about 44 nights at 32 degrees or colder, more than twice the San Marcos count. A dead air conditioner in August or a cold furnace in January can end a stay at a riverside campsite.
Blanco is part of our service area. River Cities RV Service is based in San Marcos, about 35 road miles away. We bring mobile RV repair to travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes and campers where they sit. Call or text (512) 850-7257 to set up the service call.
Tell us about your RV, what is wrong and where it is parked. We diagnose the problem and put the repair quote in writing.
Blanco State Park hugs about a mile of the spring-fed Blanco River on the south side of town. Park Road 23 runs into it from US 281. The campground has 29 sites with water and electric hookups. Seventeen of them add sewer, and eight of those carry 50 amp power.
Texas Parks and Wildlife puts the park about an hour from Austin and San Antonio. The department stocks the river with trout each winter. When something on the RV quits mid-stay, we come to the campsite and work on it there.
A few private parks rent RV sites as well. Blanco Riverside Getaway has five full-hookup RV sites at the edge of the state park. Miller Creek RV Park sits on US 281, halfway between Blanco and Johnson City, and rents sites by the month.
Most people in the 78606 ZIP area live outside the city limits. The 2020 Census counted 1,682 people in Blanco and 5,875 in the ZIP area. If your fifth wheel sits beside the house or out by the barn, we come to it.
US 281 runs north and south through Blanco. Johnson City sits 12 miles north on it, and Twin Sisters sits seven miles south on the Little Blanco River. Blanco was the county seat until 1890, when Johnson City won it in an election. The old stone courthouse on the square now serves as a visitor center.
Loop 163 follows the old route of US 281 south out of town. From the loop, RR 165 runs about 16 miles northeast to US 290. RR 1623 heads west from US 281 in town.
From San Marcos, we come in on RR 12 and RR 32. RR 32 runs about 23 miles from RR 12 to US 281, south of Blanco. RR 2325 is the other way in, from Wimberley up to RR 165. The drive is ours to make, so your RV stays put.
NOAA's averages put the August high near 94 degrees at Blanco. September still brings about 15 days at 90 or hotter. A rooftop air conditioner runs all afternoon in that heat. Our RV AC repair covers control boards and thermostats, and a new unit when the old one is done.
Winter is where Blanco differs most from San Marcos. NOAA's Blanco station sits about 650 feet above the San Marcos station, and its winters run colder. An average January brings about 14 nights at 32 degrees or colder. Three or four nights a year drop to 20 degrees or below.
On those nights, a furnace that will not light, or lights and shuts off, is the common call. RV furnace repair covers the furnace and the regulator and lines that feed it. A hard freeze can also split a water line on an RV left hooked up. Our RV plumbing and water heater repair covers split lines and pumps.
Spring is hail season here. NOAA's storm records from 2000 through 2025 put 87 percent of the area's hail reports in March through May. In May 2024, hail 6.12 inches across fell in Johnson City, 12 miles up US 281. After a storm, RV roof repair covers seam sealing, leak repair, membrane patches and full roof replacement.
The Blanco River runs about 87 miles to the San Marcos River, inside San Marcos. The town is named for the river, and Spanish explorers named the river for its white limestone. It is usually shallow and held back by low-water dams. The Handbook of Texas also notes that it is subject to flash flooding.
Over Memorial Day weekend in 2015, 10 to 13 inches of rain were reported in southern Blanco County. The weather service logged river rises of more than 20 feet in one hour. Parts of Blanco State Park were heavily damaged, and cabins there flooded.
The National Weather Service keeps a river gauge at Blanco. Flood stage there is 18 feet, when picnic tables and parking areas nearest the river start to flood. At 21 feet, the weather service says Park Road 23 floods.
Flood water can reach the floor, the wiring, the furnace and the water heater. If you carry RV insurance, we do the diagnosis and the write-up for your insurer. You pay the deductible, and we do the repair once the claim is approved.

Josh replaced the a/c and heater control board in my travel trailer he did an awesome job I highly recommend him
We discovered just 4 days before our Thanksgiving trip that our RV slide-out wasn’t working. We contacted Josh, and he came out the very same day to diagnose the issue. He quickly ordered the necessary parts and managed to get everything repaired in time for our trip. Josh was professional, efficient, and highly communicative throughout the entire process, keeping us informed every step of the way. His pricing is very reasonable, and we truly appreciate the extra effort he put in to ensure we were able to leave on time. Highly recommend his RV repair services!
Josh and his team are amazing. He replaced my roof on my wildcat 5th wheel. And once it rained he returned twice to assess any leaks and concerns. He’s my repair guy now! Thank you Josh!!!!
Josh was great. He answered all of my questions. He installed a new roof on my rv, it honestly looked brand new like it rolled off the factory line. He was fast and reliable! Definitely calling him back for an AC job next.
Josh helped me with my RV A/C repair in a pinch and was absolutely wonderful and professional. Without his help in replacing my A/C this summer would have been unbearable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Y’all! I cannot say enough amazing things about River Cities RV Service. Josh was absolutely incredible and got us out a tough situation with zero AC in July in Texas. He came to Lockhart State Park where we were staying and fixed us up.
