RV roof repair keeps water out of the wood under your roof. Many RV roofs are a rubber or TPO membrane glued to wood decking. Sealant runs along the roof edges and around every vent and skylight. When that sealant cracks or the membrane tears, rain can reach the decking and soak it.
River Cities RV Service reseals roofs and repairs leaks and torn membranes on travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes and campers. When a roof is past repair, we replace it. As part of our mobile RV repair around San Marcos, we come to the RV where it sits. You can also bring it to our San Marcos shop.

Each RV maker sets its own schedule for roof checks. One maker says to inspect the roof at least every 90 days, with a close look at seams and joints. Another says to check all sealant at least every six months and reseal at least once a year.
Failing sealant shows cracks, gaps, peeling or shrinkage. Any of those openings can let water under the membrane and into the wood. RV roof sealing starts with a clean surface and the loose sealant cleared away. Then new sealant goes on, the same type the roof was built with.
The roof material matters. Makers warn against silicone on membrane roofs, and one says it will not stick to rubber. One roof maker also warns against cleaners with petroleum distillates or citrus in them. Roof and seal checks are part of our annual RV maintenance visit as well.
San Marcos summers are long and hot. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 climate normals for the city average about 117 days a year at 90 degrees or hotter. One RV maker notes that heavy sun speeds up the breakdown of roof sealant. An RV parked in full sun takes that heat across the whole roof.
Spring is hail season here. NOAA storm records list 419 hail reports in Hays, Comal, Caldwell, Guadalupe and Blanco Counties from 2000 through 2025. Most came from March through May. Hail can crack vent covers and skylights and punch holes in the membrane.
Once a hailstorm passes, take photos of any damage you can see from the ground or a ladder. One roof maker warns that a wet membrane can be very slippery, so take care up top. A hole lets rain reach the decking, so call or text (512) 850-7257 and we check the roof.
A roof leak often shows up inside first, as a ceiling stain or a soft spot near a vent. Water can run along the decking before it drips, so the stain may sit away from the opening. RV roof leak repair means tracing the water back to where it gets in.
One RV maker says minor punctures or cuts can often be patched. When water has soaked the decking, the wood goes soft and can rot. RV water damage repair on the roof often means replacing that wet decking. Water in the walls can loosen the outer skin, and RV delamination repair is our body specialist's work.
A full RV roof replacement fits a worn-out membrane or decking that is soft across a large area. In one roof maker's re-roof guide, the vents and fixtures come off first. The old roof comes off, or new decking goes over it, so the new membrane has a solid base. Then the membrane is glued down, and the vents and fixtures go back in with fresh sealant.

Josh replaced the a/c and heater control board in my travel trailer he did an awesome job I highly recommend him
We discovered just 4 days before our Thanksgiving trip that our RV slide-out wasn’t working. We contacted Josh, and he came out the very same day to diagnose the issue. He quickly ordered the necessary parts and managed to get everything repaired in time for our trip. Josh was professional, efficient, and highly communicative throughout the entire process, keeping us informed every step of the way. His pricing is very reasonable, and we truly appreciate the extra effort he put in to ensure we were able to leave on time. Highly recommend his RV repair services!
Josh and his team are amazing. He replaced my roof on my wildcat 5th wheel. And once it rained he returned twice to assess any leaks and concerns. He’s my repair guy now! Thank you Josh!!!!
