Luling summers are hard on an RV. Palmetto State Park, about 8 road miles southeast of town, lists a July average high of 96 degrees. In that heat, a dead rooftop air conditioner is the summer call we get most. An RV parked on a long-term site is also hard to move to a shop.
River Cities RV Service does mobile RV repair around San Marcos, and Luling is part of our service area. We drive down State Highway 80 and fix travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes and campers where they are parked. Most repairs, RV AC repair included, can be done right at the site. Call or text (512) 850-7257 to set up a service call.
Tell us about your RV, what is wrong and where it is parked. We diagnose the problem and put the repair quote in writing.
Luling is a city of 5,599 people in southern Caldwell County, per the 2020 Census. It grew fast after the Luling oilfield was found in 1922, and decorated pump jacks still stand around town. A six-mile state paddling trail on the San Marcos River ends at Zedler Mill Park. The Watermelon Thump comes the last full weekend in June.
Arrow RV Park sits just off Interstate 10, with 54 full-hookup sites for short and extended stays. Patriot RV Park covers 20 acres on the San Marcos River, off State Highway 80. Other RVs stay home in town, parked in a driveway or beside the house.
Palmetto State Park, southeast of town off US 183, has 17 campsites built for RV campers. Each is a back-in site with water plus 30 and 50 amp hookups, for rigs up to 65 feet. The park asks campers to book at least two to three weeks ahead from March to November.
When something quits mid-stay, we come to the site. If the RV will not take shore power from the hookup, RV electrical repair traces the fault inside the RV. The pedestal itself belongs to the park, so the park handles that part.
Even July nights at the state park average 73 degrees. So a rooftop air conditioner runs after dark as well as all afternoon. When the vents blow warm air or the unit trips its breaker, call or text before the next hot spell.
The San Marcos River curves past the south side of Luling. The USGS river gauge at Luling recorded its highest crest on October 18, 1998. Big floods came again in May and October 2015. The state park warns that rain upstream can bring flash flooding, so watch the forecast at a riverside site.
Spring and fall storms can also bring hail and hard rain. A cracked vent cover or an open roof seam lets water into the ceiling and walls. RV roof repair reseals the seams and vents and fixes the leak. When a roof is past saving, we replace it.
Winter here is mild, with January averages of 61 degrees by day and 38 at night at the state park. Arrow RV Park welcomes Winter Texans and offers stays of a month or longer. An RV that stays parked all winter runs its systems every day.
On cold nights, the RV furnace burns propane. A furnace that will not light, or lights and then shuts off, is the common winter call. RV furnace repair covers the furnace and the regulator and lines that feed it.
A full season also wears on the parts that run every day, like the refrigerator and the water pump. We fix those at the site as well, and the written quote comes first.
State Highway 80 runs about 24 road miles from San Marcos to Luling, past Fentress and Prairie Lea. From Luling, US 183 heads north about 15 miles to Lockhart. Interstate 10 runs just south of town, and US 90 runs through it.
The service call covers the diagnosis and the trip, and Luling sits well inside our 50-mile radius. After the diagnosis, we put the quote for the repair in writing. If a part has to be ordered, we order it and come back to finish the job.
You can also bring the RV to our San Marcos shop. If an RV cannot be fixed where it sits, a towing company can haul it to the shop.

Josh replaced the a/c and heater control board in my travel trailer he did an awesome job I highly recommend him
We discovered just 4 days before our Thanksgiving trip that our RV slide-out wasn’t working. We contacted Josh, and he came out the very same day to diagnose the issue. He quickly ordered the necessary parts and managed to get everything repaired in time for our trip. Josh was professional, efficient, and highly communicative throughout the entire process, keeping us informed every step of the way. His pricing is very reasonable, and we truly appreciate the extra effort he put in to ensure we were able to leave on time. Highly recommend his RV repair services!
Josh and his team are amazing. He replaced my roof on my wildcat 5th wheel. And once it rained he returned twice to assess any leaks and concerns. He’s my repair guy now! Thank you Josh!!!!
Josh was great. He answered all of my questions. He installed a new roof on my rv, it honestly looked brand new like it rolled off the factory line. He was fast and reliable! Definitely calling him back for an AC job next.
Josh helped me with my RV A/C repair in a pinch and was absolutely wonderful and professional. Without his help in replacing my A/C this summer would have been unbearable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Y’all! I cannot say enough amazing things about River Cities RV Service. Josh was absolutely incredible and got us out a tough situation with zero AC in July in Texas. He came to Lockhart State Park where we were staying and fixed us up.
