RV propane system repair covers the tank hardware, the regulator, the lines and the appliances that burn propane. In an RV, propane can feed the furnace, the water heater burner, the range and the refrigerator. River Cities RV Service checks the system for leaks and repairs the part at fault. In winter, the common call is RV furnace repair for a furnace that will not light.
We come to your RV at an RV park, a campground, a storage lot or your driveway. You can also bring it to our San Marcos shop. RV propane system repair is one part of our mobile RV repair in San Marcos and across the Hill Country. Call or text (512) 850-7257 to set up a service call.
Tell us about your RV, what is wrong and where it is parked. We diagnose the problem and put the repair quote in writing.
An RV furnace burns propane, but its blower and control board run on 12-volt power. When the thermostat calls for heat, the blower starts first. A sail switch proves there is enough airflow, and then the board sparks the burner. After three failed tries to light, the board locks the furnace out.
Low battery power can keep the furnace from starting, and RV electrical repair covers the battery and the converter. Dust on the blower wheel can slow it so much that the sail switch never closes. Air in the propane line can stop the flame. So can a dirty burner or a wasp nest in the vent.
A blocked vent or a dirty burner can cause soot and carbon monoxide, a furnace maker's service manual warns. If you see black soot at the outside vent, shut the furnace off until it is repaired. The same manual says a furnace left unused for a long time can need extra cleaning. After a hot Hill Country summer, fall is a good time to have it cleaned and checked.
Propane has an added smell, like rotten eggs, so a leak can be noticed. The Railroad Commission of Texas, which oversees propane safety in the state, says to treat any propane smell seriously. Propane vapor is heavier than air, so an RV's propane detector sits near the floor. The detector runs on the RV's 12-volt power, so it will not work when that power is off.
A leak check covers the tank valves, the regulator, the hoses, the lines and each appliance connection. A furnace maker's manual calls for a pressure drop test, plus a leak test solution on each connection. A failing regulator or a kinked line can make the pressure swing, and the furnace may lock out. We repair or replace whatever part fails the check.
On a fuel stop along I-35 or I-10, shut off the propane appliances first, a furnace maker's manual says. An RV maker's owner guide also says to check the carbon monoxide alarm before every trip.
If the range lights but another propane appliance will not, the fault likely sits at that appliance or its line. We repair the range burners and the burners on the other propane appliances.
A water heater with no hot water is also part of RV water heater repair. A refrigerator that cools on electric but not on propane is part of RV refrigerator repair.
We repair the hardware on the tanks, and a propane supplier fills them. The state's propane safety guide says not to use a cylinder with dents, bulges, leaks or heavy rust.

Josh replaced the a/c and heater control board in my travel trailer he did an awesome job I highly recommend him
We discovered just 4 days before our Thanksgiving trip that our RV slide-out wasn’t working. We contacted Josh, and he came out the very same day to diagnose the issue. He quickly ordered the necessary parts and managed to get everything repaired in time for our trip. Josh was professional, efficient, and highly communicative throughout the entire process, keeping us informed every step of the way. His pricing is very reasonable, and we truly appreciate the extra effort he put in to ensure we were able to leave on time. Highly recommend his RV repair services!
Josh and his team are amazing. He replaced my roof on my wildcat 5th wheel. And once it rained he returned twice to assess any leaks and concerns. He’s my repair guy now! Thank you Josh!!!!
